New York City: September 22, 2010 – Celebrity Park Avenue Facial Cosmetic Surgeon Dr. Amiya Prasad lent his support to recent Work to Ride Charity Event and Fundraiser hosted by Polo superstar and model Nacho Figueras, helping to raise nearly $10,000 to support Work to Ride (www.worktoride.net).  This is a program that uses the opportunity to work with horses to help troubled teens and pre-teens from ages 7 to 19 to sort out their lives and break destructive behavior patterns before they become ingrained.

The private polo match and cocktail-party held at Two Trees Farm in Bridgehampton, New York as part of the 2010 AVANTAIR Sunday Classic was attended by many East Coast socialites, trendsetters and celebrities all eager to support the worthy cause. These charitable celebrities included Kelly Bensimon, former model and star of “The Real Housewives of New York City” and Indrani Pal-Chaudhuri, photographer and star of Bravo TV’s “Double Exposure,” along with singer-songwriter Matt White.

In addition to attending the event, Dr. Prasad donated a highly-valued facial skincare gift package for the silent auction fundraiser. Other donated high-value silent auction items included autographed memorabilia from famous musicians, sports legends and actors.  From the entertainment world, these included an autographed Taylor Swift CD, an autographed Bono album, personally-signed guitars from James Taylor and Avril Lavigne, as well as autographed photos of actors Robert DeNiro and Al Pacino.

From the sporting world, silent auction items included autographed baseballs signed by Phil Rizzuto and Robinson Cano, dinner with Polo celebrity model Nacho Figueras.   Fashion items were also auctioned, including a dress from Jill Stuart, a ring from Judith Ripka and tickets to the NYC Fashion Show presented by Charlotte Ronson.

Additional funds were raised for the charity through ticket sales and donations. In total, nearly $10,000 was raised for the Work to Ride charity.

Work to Ride is a 501c3 non-profit, community-based prevention program that aids disadvantaged urban youth through constructive activities centered on horsemanship, equine sports and education.

The program is housed at Chamounix Stables, located in Fairmont Park, Philadelphia.  This setting provides a rare opportunity to bring urban youth in contact with animals and nature.  Work to Ride is designed as a long-term program for 7-19 year old youth, who must commit to a minimum of one year of participation.

It is however, expected that participants will choose to remain with the program through high school graduation.  Work to Ride graduates receive help with college enrollment, and most also choose to return to mentor new participants.
